Arthur E. Gills - "Newcastle Central Station (Exterior) 1958", signed and dated July 2006, gouache, 36.5 x 54.5 cms, 14"x22", framed.

Arthur Gills started his painting career in his 20’s while also working along side the railways as a guardsman, and has retained his love of the railways and steam locomotives which can be seen through the great attention to detail he puts into every painting. He has continued painting since moving to Newcastle and has created many scenes of the North East and surrounding areas.

Arthur has been commissioning paintings for various clients for many years, but some are more prestigious than others. The most prestigious came in 1984, when the Queen Mother herself was visiting the Flying Scotsman, and was presented with painting of the locomotive, painted by Arthur.
