Harry Sticks (1867 - 1938). Landscape painter in oil and watercolour. The son of Henry Sticks and nephew of George Blackie Sticks. Born in Newcastle. Following some tuition form his father and uncle he practised as an artist in Northumbria throughout his life. He only made one notable trip abroad in 1897 where he visited Rotterdam, Gibraltar, Genoa, Turkey, Greece, Malta and Trinidad, whilst working for a Tyneside shipping company. Sticks has exhibited at the Royal Scottish Academy, Royal Institute of painters in watercolours and the Royal Society of Artists and at exhibitions at the Laing Gallery, Newcastle.
