Bowen - Owen Bowen (1873 - 1967)

Owen Bowen (1873 - 1967). Painter in oil and watercolour of landscapes, flowers and still life. Born in Leeds and educated at Leeds High School. Studied during evenings at Leeds School of Art under Gilbert Foster and later at Fosters studio in Leeds. He worked as a pottery designer, then as a lithographic apprentice before becoming a painter. He painted mainly Yorkshire and formed the Leeds School of Art, later the Owen Bowen School of Art. He lived at East Keswick, near Leeds. He exhibited many of his works at the Royal Cambrian Academy and the Walker Gallery
