John Davison Liddell (1859 - 1942). Marine and landscape painter in oil and watercolour, illustrator and art teacher. Born in North Shields and began exhibiting in 1884 at the Bewick Club. A full time professional artist who exhibited through out his career in the North East however he travelled regularly to the continent and on one occasion had an exhibition in Spain. Represented at the South Shields Museum and Gallery
