Henzell Isaac 1815-1876
Genre, Landscape and Portrait painter mainly in oil. although born in Sheffield Henzell was descended from the Huguenot family De Henzell who settled on Tyneside in 1619 to help found the glass industry. He was first recorded as an artist in 1841 at which time he was based in Grainger Street, Newcastle. Henzell was an uncle of the Hemy's and emigrated to Australia but like them failed to settle and returned to England in 1854 he then spent the rest of his life on Tyneside and finally London where he died. He exhibited at the Royal Academy 71 times, the BI and SS.
