Jobling - Isa Jobling (nee Thompson) (1851 - 1926)
Isa Jobling (nee Thompson) (1851 - 1926). Landscape and genre painter in oil and watercolour. She was born in Newcastle and studied at the towns Government School of Design before going to study art in Paris. She exhibited at the Royal Academy, the Royal Scottish Academy, the Bewick Club and the Suffolk Street gallery. She married Robert Jobling in 1893 and thereafter signed her work Isa Jobling. The pair lived in Whitley Bay but regularly visited Staithes and were soon accepted as part of the Staithes Group.
