An Amateur landscape and genre painter in oil and watercolour. Richardson was born on Tyneside and later took up a business career, painting and sketching in his spare time. He exhibited first at the Bewick Club from 1885. He took up a managerial post in Middlesbrough where he became a founder member of the Cleveland Sketching Club. He became a regular exhibitor at the club later showing his works at the Artists of the Northern Counties at the Laing Gallery. He exhibited regulary in Newcastle from 1905 till the outbreak of the First World War.
