Abel Hold fl1849 - 1871. Gifted in the portrail of game and wildlife he was a protege of Clarkson Stansfield who saw fit to nurture Hold’s obvious talent for depicting animals. Hold exhibited numerous works at the Royal Academy and at the Society of British Artists in London as well as his native Yorkshire.
