Clark - James Waite Clark 19th/20th cent

 Landscape and coastal painter in oil and watercolour. The artist practised in North Shields in the 1880's often exhibiting at the Bewick Club. He also exhibited at the Art Club at Tynemouth where he was treasuruer. By 1899 he had relocated to South Shields from which he sent paintings to the Royal Academy, the Royal Institute of Painters in Watercolours and to many London and provincial galleries. He continued to exhibit in the North East at the Laing galleries exhibiton of Northern Artists up untill 1908. In 1900 he exhibited "On Whitley Sands " at the Royal Academy. While in South Shields he provided a framing service for fellow artists as well as supplying them with materials.
